Results: Covid-19's Silver Lining Image

There is no doubt that Covid 19 has sent shockwaves around the world as countries gradually grind to a halt under one form of lockdown or another. However it’s not all bad, last week’s survey focused on the positive and we asked respondents to help us find the silver lining to the COvid-19 cloud.…

4 in 10 said they are speaking to loved ones more during this pandemic period

6 in 10 said they are doing things in the house they have been putting off for ages

Respondents also shared the positives of the current lockdown situation, we picked 10 for this post

  1. Able to organize the house and donate items I don’t really need
  2. Learning how to play guitar
  3. Spending time with children and as a family
  4. Knowing my kids and partner are all safe with me at home
  5. Having more time just to be! No time for reflection in our day to day life.
  6. Saving money with nowhere to spend it
  7. Keep coming up with ideas of how to occupy my time... hobbies I had not done in ages, tidying up cupboards, DIY, sorting files
  8. Appreciate relatives and friends more
  9. Still having to go to work but the streets are much quieter so the walk is less stressful
  10. Less pollution

Finally, looking ahead to when the restrictive measures will be lifted, we asked our respondents what would be one of the first things they would do, here are some of their responses:

  1. Cuddle Grandchildren
  2. Go to the Pub
  3. A big party with the whole family
  4. Go to the beach
  5. A night at Rock on the Rock
  6. Diet (haha we thought this was very funny!)
  7. Go see my grandparents/parents
  8. Go out for a meal
  9. Go for a coffee with friends
  10. Go for a long hike

We know staying at home can be frustrating, boring and even exhausting, but this too shall pass - so hang in there and make the most of the lockdown where you can.

Next week, our monthly survey for The Gibraltar Chronicle will be out - as has becomee almost customary, by completing this survey you get the chance to win an annual online subscription to the paper.
