Results: Town Planner for 2 Minutes

This week you loved being Town Planner, in fact this has been one of our most successful surveys in terms of numbers of respondents. With this in mind, we’ll keep an eye on the DPC meetings to bring to your attention any interesting developments, although 40% of you will now know that you can track all applications on line via www.egov.gi

As for the results, here they are in order of most ‘approved’...

New Cable Car and Stations. As Town Planner 88% would grant planning permission and 12% would reject. Despite the love from our respondents, the DPC has deferred the decision citing concern over how the area will cater for an increased number of tourists. https://www.chronicle.gi/dpc-defers-decision-cable-car-project/

New residence on Winston Churchill Avenue (MOD area). As Town Planner 88% would grant planning permission and 12% would reject. This project is already well underway, check out the building site opposite Eroski to see how it’s getting on.

The old Glass Factory is going to be turned into a bank. As Town Planner 79% would grant planning permission and 21% would reject.

Residential development on the ex-casino site on Europa Road (Rock Hotel Hill). As Town Planner 69% would grant planning permission and 31% would reject. This recieved full planning permission only a few days ago and is going ahead.

28 Luxury Homes in Europa Walks (by the shrine). As Town Planner 64% would grant planning permission and 36% would reject. We are not sure what is happening with this project - maybe you can update us?

Block of 59 residences on Engineers Lane (By Risso Bakery).  As Town Planner 61% would grant planning permission and 39% would reject. Despite some significant doubt from our respondents, this project is already well underway and we believe most of the flats have already been sold off plan!

Block containing residential and commercial units on Devils Tongue (just outside city walls by Casemates).  As Town Planner 21% would grant planning permission and 79% would reject. For your information, this actual design was rejected for a number of reasons and a new one was submitted. See more info here: https://www.chronicle.gi/revised-devils-tongue-project-back-dpc/

Thanks again for joining in the Your Say fun. This week’s survey strikes a more serious tone, the analysis of which will appear in The Gibraltar Chronicle on the 2nd March. Here is the link: https://yoursaygib.typeform.com/to/Qp7EqT
